Jonny Ramirez

Jonny Ramirez born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley (McAllen) wound up in radio completely by accident. While attending Pan American University (Now UT Pan Am), he participated in a program that allowed him to intern in a different mass communication field. Even though he really wanted to intern for a film crew shooting a documentary in Colorado, he chose interning for a talk radio station in Edinburg because he needed to stay close to home. The radio bug bite him hard and immediately as KURV provided the springboard to what has been almost 40 years of having fun talking to listeners and spinning some of the best music ever recorded.

Having worked with oldies and country radio stations throughout Texas, his love and passion for Tejano music led him to San Antonio and KXTN, Tejano 107.5. For 23 years, his love for the community and the people of central Texas fueled him to raise work closely with the San Antonio Blood and Tissue Center, the San Antonio Food Bank plus through his efforts, he helped raise over 1 and a half million dollars for San Antonio’s Children’s Hospital.
